Prior to creating music as Mild Peril I was a DJ and reluctant club promoter in London. In 2009 I launched the ENDURANCE club night, intending to showcase Electronic Body Music as an important genre in its own right, whilst linking it to Industrial music, Belgian New Beat, early House, Techno and synthesizer dance music in general.
During the club's tenure I remixed Yazoo's classic track "Situation", inspired by the slowed down "33 1/3 plus 8" versions of synth pop and new wave tracks popular in New Beat clubs of the late 1980s. Then, in the months after the last regular Endurance party, I created an EP of music inspired by and in tribute to the artists of the original EBM/New Beat scene. Both were previously available through bandcamp as digital releases.
The 'Body Party' EP is soon to have a remastered re-release on vinyl via Common Thread records. In the run-up, here again are the two versions of 'New Beat Situation'.
